[Adam Hart] By now you’ve heard of the Christmas Day terror plot, in which a Nigerian man attempted to blow up a Northwest flight from Amsterdam to Detroit to carry out jihad, blah, blah, blah. These terrorists are really getting tiring. Shouldn’t they be running out of them by now?
Anyway, the alleged terrorist’s name is Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab – which is four names by my count – and he is the 23-year-old son of a wealthy Nigerian banker. Which is why I find this next bit a little strange.
Via ABCNews.com:
He was concerned he would not get into college at Caltech, Stanford or Berkeley because of his test scores.
“I tried the SAT. It was a disaster!!! I didn’t practice well and I got 1200.” Abdulmutallab attended college in London between 2005 and 2008.
First of all, I got a 1220 on my SAT. When I was 17. So yeah, this kid definitely isn’t that smart. But what did you expect? He’s the son of a guy who can’t even match verb tenses in his generous e-mail offers to kind sirs and madams in the United States. And the elder Abdulmutallab has proven there’s no need for mastery of the English language when offering 400,000 US Dollars for a simple wire transfer of inheritance funds. This kid would just be wasting money studying at one of those prestigious schools. Pops should’ve just set him up with a Gmail account and let him get after it.
P.S. Obviously his dad might not be that Nigerian do-gooder who’s always sending out those phishing e-mails. It’s just a joke. Maybe.
